Ever since the early 21st century when the internet becomes more popular, people get information from the internet rather than books. So the debates on whether books will really die out due to the
internet have been going on since. Let check if that is really true?
Some background information on books and internet
Books
Before 'books' existed, information were written tablets/scroll/codex. One important material that inspired the invention of papers and ultimately books is papyrus.
Papyrus a thick paper-like material made by weaving the stems of the papyrus plant, then pounding the woven sheet with a hammer-like tool, was used for writing in Ancient Egypt, perhaps as early as the First Dynasty (c. 3100 – c. 2890 BC).
Before the invention and adoption of the printing press, almost all books were copied by hand, which made books expensive and comparatively rare.
Internet
The development/research of internet started in the 1950s. Internet started out as just sending messages. It's reason for development was because the US Army needed an easier way to communicate.
Since the mid-1990s the Internet has had a tremendous impact on culture and commerce. The rise in use of email, social networking, online shopping, VOIP etc.. The Internet grew greater and greater with more online informations and knowledge. In the late 1990s, it is estimated that the traffic on public internet grew by 100% per year.
